  MY GEAR

The following is a list of the gear I am currently using.

Vantage Stratocaster Copy

I got this from a friend of mine, and I have become somewhat attached to it and find it quiet nice to play......and it doesn't sound too bad either. I am not sure what the body is made from but the neck looks like maple with a rosewood fretboard. I haven't done any upgrades to it but have considered getting a set of noiseless pickups for it......the hum in pretty annoying at times.

Jackson Dinky PS-4

This is by far my favorite guitar. It has an alder body with a flame top and a maple neck with a rosewood fretboard.....and it plays really nice. As you can see it has a H-S-H configuration and the reverse head looks cool. It also has a locking nut and a Floyd Rose bridge.....it stays in tune really good but can be a real bitch to set up. Also, if you are into playing in different types of tunings (ie drop-D, etc) it can be a real pain. I am planning to add an active EMG system to this guitar.......an 81-SA-85 setup.

Fender F-200 Grand Concert Acoustic

This is the only acoustic guitar I have right now. There is really not too much to say about this guitar. Its pretty basic, spruce body with a rosewood neck. I take this on trips, camping, etc and its beginning to show wear already after only one year (especially below the pickguard). It plays OK, but I am not really a big fan of Fender acoustic guitars. I plan on getting a new one in the near future and am leaning towards an ESP.

"Mystery" Guitar

This is a hollow body electric guitar I got from a friend of mine who just had it kicking around his basement with about an inch of dust on it. Nobody seems to know where it came from or what brand of guitar it is (the name plate is missing from the head)......but its been played alot by the look of it. Even with all its use and the fact that it could definately use some work to bring the electronics and overall setup up to par, it still plays pretty good and I use it quiet alot.

Yamato Nylon String Classical Acoustic

This is just a basic nylon string guitar made in Japan.

Fender Stratocaster

This is a 62' Re-Issue Strat. It has the 3-tone sunburst body and a rosewood fretboard and a maple neck which is finished with the golden "aged" tint. It also has all the gold hardware and the body has the three cavity routing, not the "swimming pool" routing that comes on so many of the newer Strats, including American Strats.

Strings

I only use two different types of strings now. I have tried a few different types but in the end I found two types that give me the sound and feel that I like. I use Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinkys for my electric guitars and Elixer Medium strings for my acoustic. The Elixer's cost a little more then some strings (about $30.00 a set) but they are really good and don't need to be changed as often as some of the others. On a side note, I found Martin SP Custom Light acoustic strings pretty nice as well, but decided on the Elixer's in the end.

Marshall MG50DFX

I use a Marshall 50 watt amp equipped with digital effects and a Marshall footswitch to control channel switching and the effects. Because its a solid state amp, it comes with Marshall's FDD feature which is supposed to emulate a tube amp.......and I must say this amp sounds excellent, although still not as good as a real tube amp...but close. If Metallica is your thing, Marshall is the amp for you.

Pignose G40V Tube

This is just a basic 40 watt tube amp with a two 6L6 and three 12AX7 tube set. Its a pretty small amp, but VERY loud for only 40 watts.

Boss Metal Zone MT-2 Distortion Pedal

If distortion is your thing, I would really recommend one of these pedals.....really delivers the crunch.
